Ian’s father
was only five months old when his father became tenant of No
3 Mid-Locharwoods in 1922. Mid and Nether Locharwoods had
been divided into twelve smallholdings under the Scottish
Small Landholdings Bill and tenancies were awarded to
ex-servicemen from the Great War. |
In 1998, on a
visit to New Zealand, Ian’s father Robin McClumpha,
suggested ~ why don’t you take a look at the Locharwoods?
The result was a fascinating story which is now available in
a small booklet. |
King Robert
the Bruce, William Wallace, King James VI & 1st,
Robert Burns and the Scottish Labour Colony all played a
part in the history of the Locharwoods. |
